A contemporary grand hotel in a former bank and music conservatory in Amsterdam’s Museumplein district.
Once a 19th-century bank and later a renowned music conservatory, the Conservatorium reopened in 2011 as a modern grand hotel steps from the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Vondelpark. Its 129 individually styled rooms and suites set original brick walls, arched windows, and lofty ceilings against brushed oak floors and minimalist Italian furnishings, culminating in duplex lofts and signature suites.
Wellness is central, with an 18-meter lap pool, a Watsu hydrotherapy pool, a hammam, seven treatment rooms, and a full Pilates and yoga studio. Taiko serves modern pan-Asian tasting menus in a former percussion room, while Barbounia plates Levantine seafood under the atrium’s glass canopy; a lounge-brasserie, cocktail bar, and terrace round out the dining.
