A medieval border castle turned country hotel, restored over decades by the family who live on the estate.
Life at Castello di Reschio is shaped by the land, the seasons, and the family behind it all. Built in 1050 to defend the border where Umbria meets Tuscany, the castle sits at the heart of a private estate of oak woods, vineyards, and olive groves. The Bolza family bought it in 1994 and spent decades restoring it, opening the castle as a hotel of 36 rooms and suites in 2021.
Every detail has passed through the family’s hands. The spa fills the former wine cellars with a salt-water pool, dining is within the castle walls and in the old stables, an oval pool sits below the walls under umbrella pines, and purebred Andalusian horses, bred on the estate, are ridden out across the hills. It feels more like a home than a hotel, because it is.

Furniture made on the estate
The beds and lamps in the rooms are made on the estate by Reschio’s own blacksmiths, carpenters, and upholsterers.
The Bathhouse spa
The spa is set in the castle’s former wine cellars, with a salt-water pool lit from a high window, bath rituals, and lymphatic massage.
Dining across the estate
Ristorante al Castello within the castle walls, and Alle Scuderie in the former stables, cooking from the organic kitchen garden.
The Andalusian horses
Purebred Andalusian horses bred on the estate since 1999, schooled in classical dressage and ridden out across the land.
The pool below the castle
A heated pool spills over its stone rim below the castle walls, with Bar Torrino serving light lunches through the day.
Bookable activities
Tennis, rowing on the estate lake, e-bikes, and walking trails through the oak woods.
