The former Palace of Justice on the Prinsengracht canal, restored by Studio Piet Boon and opened in 2025 as Rosewood’s first hotel in the Netherlands.

The building began as an orphanage in 1665 and later became the city’s Palace of Justice. After a decade of restoration, it opened as Rosewood Amsterdam in May 2025. Studio Piet Boon designed the interiors, keeping the building’s classical architecture and bringing in contemporary Dutch design. Many of the 134 rooms and suites look directly onto the canal. The largest are the Houses, private apartments with their own kitchens and a dedicated butler.

The hotel holds more than 1,000 works of art, from acclaimed masters to new talent, and The Gallery hosts a changing program of exhibitions. Advocatuur, the cocktail bar, mixes specialty cocktails, while Eeuwen serves seasonal dishes made with produce from the Netherlands. Asaya, the spa, has a 12-meter indoor pool, a sauna, a steam room, and treatment rooms, beside a fitness center open 24 hours with Pilates, barre, and yoga classes.
